WATKINS GLEN, New York -- Just 19 years of age and already a road-course ringer, Richard Crozier drove to his first career ESCORS BallRacing Cup Series
victory in Saturday's ESCORS at The Glen at the historic 2.45-mile Watkins Glen International road course.
Crozier, driving the No. 60 KFC Toyota of Can-Am Racing, started from the Mindware Pole and led all but four of the race's 66 in dominant fashion. In the early
stages of the race, Crozier fought off challenges from Andy Wilke and Gary Dumont. But as the race went on, Wilke ran into gearbox troubles.
Gary Dumont put up a hard fight late in the race but could not keep up with Corzier. Dumont wound up finishing secound for the fourth consecutive week
and the seventh time this season. Trey Eidson, also driving a Can-Am Racing Toyota, finished third after having engine troubles throughout the race.
Bart Van Nevel and Giorgio Ponti rounded out the top five in their CDB Enterprises Dodges.
The race was slowed by nine cautions for 16 laps with 5 lead changes among three drivers.
Andy Wilke continues to have a strong lead in the point standings - 511 points over Giorgio Ponti - with four races remaining until the "Chase for the BallRacing Cup".
The ESCORS BallRacing Cup Series will now visit Michigan International Speedway for the running of the Yankee 250 next Saturday.
