JOLIET, Illinois -- Andy Wilke was able to capture his fourth ESCORS BallRacing Cup Series win of the 2008 season Saturday afternoon, winning the Chicagoland 250 at Chicagoland Speedway.

It was the German’s first career victory at the 1.5-mile oval and his fourth in as many races.

Being patient and working his way to the front, Andy Wilke took the lead for the final time from his teammate Volker Hackmann, with 22 laps remaining and held off a hard charging Gary Dumont and Pascal Dukers, both driving Virtual-Games.com Racing Team Chevrolets, to take the checkers, 1.859 seconds ahead of Dumont.

Trey Eidson came home fourth followed by Bjarne Laursen with an impressive run in fifth.

Laurent Dilard helped his Chase chances with a sixth place finish followed by Hackmann, Hendrik Gerhardt, Helge Gravemeyer and Giorgio Ponti rounding out first 10 finishers.

Volker Hackmann dominated early from the Mindware pole and led a race-high 102 laps, but a late-race spin off Turn 4 put an end to any hopes of winning the race.

Saturday’s victory extended Andy Wilke's championship lead to 340 points over Volker Hackmann.

Wilke averaged 158.820 mph in a race that was slowed four times for 15 laps under caution. Seven drivers exchanged the lead 14 times.

The ESCORS BallRacing Cup Series now takes a weekend off before it returns to action on Saturday, July 26 for the running of the Brickyard 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
