Jesse Atchison scores first career victory at Michigan

BROOKLYN, Michigan -- Jesse Atchison scores his first career Cup win.

Atchison, running a KFC 0 Grams of Trans Fat paintscheme for this weekend would play his cards right all race and found himself leading on the last restart of the day with five laps to go followed by Volker Hackmann.

Following a good restart, he was able to hold off the German driver on the backstretch who would have his hands full fending off the advances of Atchison's teammate Trey Eidson and the two would eventually make contact in turn four sending Hackmann spinning into the infield without bringing out the caution. Atchison was then able to hold off the charging Pascal Dukers till the checkers and score his first career BallRacing Cup Series victory edging out Dukers by .077 seconds.

It would be Toyota's first Cup win on what is considered as hallowed ground for Detroit's 'Big Three' manufacturers Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge.

Eidson would finish third, followed by Istvan Pasztor and Andy Wilke.

Hendrik Gerhardt would have a solid run to finish sixth, ahead of teammates Justin Trombley, Kirk Earls and Helmut Eimann, making it a good day overall for the H² Auto Racing camp. Giorgio Ponti would round out the Top-10.

The race was only slowed by four cautions for 13 laps leading to an average speed of 161.618 mph.
