Helmut Eimann, driving the No. 73 Cablevision Ford won his first Mindware pole of the season with a blistering 180.144 mph
(29.976 seconds) lap around the 1.5 mile oval.
Once the green flag was out, drivers immediately spread out in two and three wide formations to put on a show that fans of
the facility have come to expect over the years. The lead would end up being swapped 17 times amongst 9 drivers with Nick
Hansen, in his third start for Robert Bannister Racing, leading the most laps.
A lot of the early contenders would run into problems during the course of the race, and eventually, it came down to a tight
duel between Banerjee and Hansen with Banerjee pulling out a pass with two laps to go and holding on to take the win. It would
be the fifth win of the season for the driver nicknamed 'The Jolly Bengali' by longtime friend and teammate Hendrik Gerhardt.
"Man, I tell you what, these guys on the Jackaroo Meat Sauces team worked their butts off preparing this truck and it's all
due to them. It was close with Nick at the end there, we raced each other hard and fair all race long and it's great to have him
back in this series once again," said Banerjee.
Bjarne Laursen and Matthew Bradley would have their own battle for 3rd with Laursen securing that position and Jari
Luomajoki rounding out the Top-5.
Jan Verschueren, Ivan Balakhonov, Marko Pasonen, Helmut Eimann and Guilherme Cunha would complete the Top-10.
The race was run at an average speed of 146.001 mph and was slowed by 6 cautions for a total of 18 laps.
